Discover Cockle Bay Wharf

Sydney has so many delicious places to eat – it can be overwhelming trying to find a good place to go! But Cockle Bay Wharf is an ideal destination for many reasons: it’s a couple of minute’s walk from the CBD, it’s right on the harbour so the views are great, and it’s simply full of restaurants and bars! It’s a bustling food & drinks hub for locals and tourists alike. There’s something here for all tastes and inclinations, and you’ll find something to enjoy at any time of day.

We recently got to experience some of the area’s best bites in a roaming dining experience, and now we’re taking you along!

Hunter & Barrel

Located up on the top level of Cockle Bay Wharf, Hunter & Barrel restaurant is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the ground-level venues – a well-kept secret. They specialise in charred, smoky meats and barrel-aged spirits that go hand-in-hand – a sophisticated take on the hunter’s way. The smells coming from the open kitchen were delicious!

What we ate: mouth-watering chicken wings and delightful smoked margaritas
Where: Tenancy 303, Cockle Bay Wharf, Sydney NSW (they also have locations in Victoria and WA)
Opening hours: 12pm-10pm

Baia the Italian

If you’re looking for delicious, unpretentious Italian fare then Baia should be your choice. it’s a trendy little venue, with a classic food menu with a local influence, extensive wine list and an exciting cocktail selection. Prepare for plenty of cheese, cured meats, delicious sauces and friendly service.

What we ate: Delicious canapés (arancini balls, trout tartare, kangaroo loin and mini calzone), classic cocktails – the Il Giardino is belissimo – and a glass or two of the delightfully floral and creamy Astoria Prosecco D.O.C.
Where: 114 Cockle Bay Wharf, Sydney NSW

I’m Angus Steakhouse

One for the meatlovers. I’m Angus offers premium Aussie beef and the freshest seafood, and has an extensive premium wine list too. Any questions about the menu or wine, just ask. It’s a vibrant venue that’s family friendly and caters to most tastes. It’s obvious they know their meats, and you can watch the chefs at work after you’ve ordered.

What we ate: A scrumptious platter with marinated lamb souvlaki, salt & pepper calamari, bruschetta, kangaroo, and sliced angus rump steak, all washed down with Brokenwood’s 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot, a perfect pairing with its ripe, rich plum tones and dusty tannins.
Where: The Promenade, Cockle Bay Wharf, Sydney NSW
Opening hours: 11:30am – 3:00pm, 5:00pm – 11:00pm

Tokio Hotel

Try to get here for Happy Hour (from 3pm). It’ll be rammed with people and the atmosphere will be great! There’s usually live music from 7pm, and from 5pm on Sundays, which really adds to the vibe. It’s a great place to sit, drink and relax by the water.

What we ate: Espresso Martinis

Café Del Mar

With its great views at any time of day and dangerously drinkable cocktails, Café Del Mar is a fantastic place to end your evening. While away the hours on their rooftop terrace, soaking in the cityscape and munching on Mediterranean food that’s got modern Australian flair. It’s effortlessly chic decor pays homage to its Spanish heritage, and if it weren’t for the view you could easily imagine you were in Ibiza.
